Participants

"Voices for Peace" was the result of a grassroots effort involving dozens of people who live in or near San Francisco, California. Their purpose: to humanize Iran in the eyes of Americans who have never met anyone of Iranian origin. These Iranian-Americans volunteered to create this message, speaking as individuals, independent of any political party, religious group or organization.
 

 
Farook Afsari
An engineer, Mr. Afsari is the founder of a clean technology company.
 
Mahvash Afsari
A librarian, Ms. Afsari's office provides social services to Iranian-Americans.
 
Nealan Afsari
Ms. Afsari is an attorney who enjoys writing, traveling, and volunteering for local organizations with an international reach.
 
Mr. Alimagham is a graduate student at Harvard University.
 
Trained in engineering, Ms. Ansari is CEO and co-founder of Prodea Systems. She is the fourth private space tourist and the first astronaut of Iranian descent.
 
Behrang Barzin
Trained in geography, Mr. Barzin manages a printing business and volunteers for the Iranian for Human Rights organization. He loves travelling and playing soccer.
 
Elahe Enssani
Dr. Enssani is an engineering professor, entrepreneur, public official, and immigrant rights activist who has done fashion modeling and is a trained soprano singer and flamenco dancer.
 
Salomeh Ghorban
Ms. Ghorban is a homeopathic practitioner who enjoys studying and performing folkloric dances from various regions of the world.
 
Mojgan Haddad
Ms. Haddad is a director of software engineering who enjoys bike riding.
 
Anita Hemati
Ms. Hemati is a high school student who love foreign languages. She sings and plays guitar in her spare time.
 
Faye Farnaz Jamali
Ms. Jamali is a mother, wife and doctor.
 
Educated in communications and media studies, Mr. Javid is a web publisher.
 
Trained in the field of political science, Mr. Jobrani is an internationally recognized comedian.
 
Ms. Jones is a human rights advocate.
 
Enayat Katouli
Mr. Katouli is a community activist and teacher.
 
Ms. Kaviani is a freelance writer and blogger.
 
Mr. Khalili is part of CBS Radio in the San Francisco Bay Area (Alice@97.3). His YouTube page has had over 12 million views since its launch in January 2008.
 
Rasta Khazeni
Ms. Khazeni works in the high-tech industry and paints in her spare time.
 
Ahmad Kiarostami
Mr. Kiarostami is an entrepreneur who is passionate about the intersection between technology and art.
 
Sanam Kordestani
Ms. Kordestani does marketing for a high technology company and is a photographer.
 
Mahtab
Mahtab is a dentist.
 
Ali Mehdizadeh
An engineer, Mr. Mehdizadeh likes to share Iranian ideas and culture with friends and acquaintances.
 
A journalist, Mr. Memarian is World Peace Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism.
 
Sara Mostafavi
Ms. Mostafavi is a practicing immigration attorney and board member of the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California.
 
Ms. Nafei-Jamali is a director and instructor at Niosha Dance Academy.
 
Ms. Nafici is a poet with a passion for Iranian prose by Hafez and Rumi. She also works for a high technology company.
 
Iman Novin
With a background in structural engineering and urban planning, Mr. Novin is a project manager in affordable housing development.
 
One of the most important Iranian novelists, Ms. Parsipur is the recipient of the inaugural International Writers Project Fellowship from the Program in Creative Writing and the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University.
 
Jaleh Pirnazar
Dr. Pirnazar, PhD, is a professor of Persian langugage and literature at UC Berkeley. Her hobbies are piano and Iranian cinema. 
 
Liana Shirin Posselt
Ms. Posselt is a kindergarten student at the French American International School. She loves ballet and monkey bars.
 
Shari Rafia
With a background in psychology and child development, Ms. Rafia teaches first grade at a private school.
 
A business marketing major, Ms. Rahimian is a founder of the Iranian Cultural Club of San Francisco State University.
 
Kavian Ravandoust
Mr. Ravandoust is a student, philosopher and basketball player.
 
Shayan Ravandoust
Mr. Ravandoust is an undergraduate college student.
 
Ms. Razifard is an account manager for a biotech company. She is involved in various community activities and enjoys organizing monthly events for seniors at the Persian Center.
 
Asghar Riahi
Mr. Riahi is technology consultant who likes to do photography.
 
Ryan Riahi
Mr. Riahi is a grade-school student who enjoys cooking.
 
Ms. Sabourian is a marketing and community development strategist. In her spare time, she organizes social and professional networking events promoting cross-cultural exchanges.

Dr. Sahba is a family medicine physician who is trained in architecture and enjoys creating art.
 
Iran Sahba
Ms. Sahba is a retired cytogeneticist and seamstress who enjoys gardening.
 
Schauleh Sahba
Trained in business economics and fashion design, Ms. Sahba is a marketing communications professional, designing under her own label.
 
Principal of his own structural engineering firm, Mr. Salamat is the co-founder of BeyondPersia and a long-time modern artist (painter).
 
Trained in architecture, Mr.Salahshoor is a master stylist.
 
A former engineer, Mr. Shagagi is a philanthropist who is committed to promoting peace through multimedia.
 
A musician and architect, Mr. Sobhani is a founding member of Kiosk, a band whose roots stem from the Iranian underground scene.
 
An engineer, Ms. Tameh volunteers for the International Society for Children with Cancer.
 
Ms. Vafaie is a human rights advocate.
 
Mr. Zolfaghari is an electrical engineer and a director of Iranican.com.
